2018-12-15 25 Mile Trail Loop

This week’s ride takes us out and back on the Paseo Trail for a relatively flat, 25 mile ride.  Wheels down at 9:00 am in December for the Sun Lakes Saturday Rides.   It’s forecast to be a chilly start, around 47 degrees F at 9 am warming to 63 degrees F at noon with overcast and mostly cloudy skies.

If you have lights and aren’t afraid of the dark, don’t forget about the Annual Christmas Lights/Cookie Ride honoring the Stanley House on  Wednesday, December 19.  I did this last year and had a blast.  This year I might even know where I am during the event, which turns out to be a bicycle parade lit by zillions of holiday lights on bikes, houses, plants and just about everything else.  The riders congregate at the former Zipp’s location at the corner of McClintock and Ray at 7:00 pm, ride around in the dark observing the lights, stop for cookies and hot chocolate, and then head back to the start.

2018-12-08 Double Feature: PMBC Quarterly Breakfast Meeting at the Hungry Monk and Annual Holiday Party at Miele’s Italian Restaurant

While the Sun Lakes Saturday ride is on sabbatical this week, there are two events that may be of interest to the Sun Lakes PMBC riders.

PMBC Quarterly Breakfast Meeting at the Hungry Monk, 10 a.m.

PMBC’s 4th Quarterly Membership Breakfast Meeting of 2018 is scheduled for Saturday, December 8, 2018. It will be held at The Hungry Monk, located on the NE corner of Dobson Rd and Chandler Blvd in Chandler (1760 W Chandler Blvd Suite 2, Chandler, AZ 85224).

Sign-in begins at 10:00 a.m. and the meeting will begin at 10:45 a.m. As usual the breakfast is free for PMBC members (2 breakfasts per family membership). If you’re not a member yet, this would be a good time to join.

You can ride to the meeting with Saturday Cycling, meet the club at The Hungry Monk beginning at 10:00 a.m., or follow Dobson from Sun Lakes to the strip mall on the NE corner of Dobson & Chandler Boulevard to the Hungry Monk.  It’s a little over eight miles from the Cottonwood flag pole, one-way via the most direct route.  Forty-five minutes should be enough time at our customary pace.

PMBC Clothing will be available for purchase at the meeting. See PMBC Clothing for the current price list and instructions to pre-order to make sure your desired items will be on hand.

Election of club officers for 2019 will also take place at the meeting.
